Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:2-3
We were buried with Christ in baptism (Col. 2:12) and have been raised to new life in Christ. This new life of being united with Christ may not be visible to the world, but it continues into eternity.
Today, you’ll want to review verse 1 which you learned yesterday. Memorization is all about review. The more you quote the verses you learn, the stronger those neural pathways become in your brain…you’re turning game trails into highways.
One of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to memorize Scripture is to put it to music. You can of course come up with your own tunes, but sometimes Christian artists have already done so. For example, Seeds Family Worship has produced multiple albums with high-energy songs for kids and teens. As for Colossians 3:2 (if this doesn’t seem to childish), it can be sung to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb.
”Mary had a lit-tle lamb, lit-tle lamb, lit-tle lamb
Set your minds on things above, things above, things above,
Mary had a lit-tle lamb, [its] fleece was white as snow.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
There are only two characters in that song, Mary and her lamb. This is verse two of Colossians 3.
Also, Colossians 3:3 can be sung to the first line of “Twinkle, twinkle, little star.”
Twin-kle, twin-kle lit-tle star,
For you died and your life is
How I won-der what you are.
Now hid-den with Christ in God.
“Twinkle” is repeated; the number 3 is repeated in this reference: Colossians 3:3.
